A year after a project aimed at strengthening the Department of chemical and Environmental Engineering of the University of Hanoi was initiated with the cooperation of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, a steering committee has assessed that activities towards meeting the specific goals and objectives of the project has been carried out effectively.
The opening of a new masters degree program in chemical and environmental engineering and equipping the departments with various analytical instruments that would enable aspiring scientists measure and analyze pollution were the main activities completed during the first year.
Plans discussed by the committee for the next year included exchange education programs and sub-projects as direct contribution to environmental protection in Vietnam such as the analysis of potable water in rural regions and the study of utilising sewage for fish farming and irrigation.
